Of course we want you to call us if one of your appliances breaks
down! However, there are some “do’s and don’ts” that prolong your appliances’ trouble-free
useful lives, avoid unnecessary service calls, and prevent dangerous accidents. Here are a few:
Do’s
- TURN OFF the washing machine valve if you are away for more than
a day. Washing machine hoses have water pressure. If the hose breaks while you are away, it could flood your house.
Remember, if you have not turned the valve since you had the washing machine installed, it may begin to leak.
- CLEAN OFF the excess grease in the oven before running the self-cleaning
cycle. Excess grease can cause a fire.
- FOLLOW the manufacturer’s operation and safety instructions.
|
Don’ts
- LEAVE DRYER or self cleaning oven running while you are asleep or
away from your house. These appliances are designed to run hot, and can start a fire- especially if your dryer vent
is clogged, or if your oven has too much grease build up in it.
- LEAVE DISHWASHER or washing machine running when you are away from
your house. A hose could break, causing a flood. Remember, electricity and water do not mix well!
- DON’T SERVICE your appliance when they are plugged in.

Suggested Preventative Maintenance:
Run dishwasher on empty with either one quart of white vinegar or a jar of
Tang. Then run it with plain hot water. This will clean off food, grease, and soap build up that reduces its cleaning
capability. Do this four times a year.
Pour two quarts
of white vinegar in your washing machine once it is full of hot water, and then run it. Do this twice yearly.
